Testosterone helps build muscle mass and strength, build bone density and strength, prevent excess fat gain, maintain a stable emotional state, keep our immune system strong to prevent disease, and maintain mental freshness.
A study came out over 10 years ago from The College of Endocrinology that suggested that current 30 year old males have 20% less testosterone in their bodies than 20 years ago. Look around you, it is apparent there is a lack of testosterone out there.
This study mentions that ‘health or environmental factors could be the root cause of the observed declines’. Could it be the technology? Is it the chemicals in plastic destroying testosterone levels? Whatever it may be, the male image has shifted from the hot headed take charge man to the passive pencil neck dude having trouble growing a beard. We rarely see the modern man spilling his guts out for glory, not just in sports but in general day to day life, superman is dead.
The Impact of Technology
Today young males have trouble rolling their sleeves to have a fist fight after-school in the school yard (something common 30 years ago). Yet they can sit behind a computer to bully others and talk big with words, a frustrated bunch. Young Millennial males lack the self confidence that men had before them, finding comfort texting on their phones and living lonely lives. Where is the energy? Has technology, slowed men down, do they lack that oomph?
To make matters worse, It has been found xenoestrogens (imitates estrogen) are leached from plastic containers and plastic packaging by foods and fluids. This not only poses a serious health risk but also lowers testosterone in the body. Just go to Starbucks and if there is a male barista – 9 times out of 10 he will be the skinny effeminate type. Were fetuses affected? Is the transgender movement actually fueled by lack of testosterone?
Celebration of the Gladiator
The modern day gladiator is missed. We still see them in some sports like mixed martial arts, football, and hockey to name a few. Seeing them bust their guts in front of us for our entertainment is incredible, they are an elite group. We need more of these warriors in our day to day lives. Bring on the Testosterone replacement therapy. The energy, the fight, the chase that our forefathers brought to the world needs to come back.
